Incremental celebrates the LGBTQ+ community in honour of Pride month, championing diversity and inclusion with guest speaker Andreena Leeanne.
Incremental is proud to support pride
In June, people around the globe come together to celebrate and support lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer/questioning (LGBTQ+) individuals. This is most commonly known as Pride month which encourages inclusivity, equality and diversity.
Pride month is associated with a colourful flag consisting of 6 colours; resembling a rainbow. The meaning behind the rainbow dates back to the 1970s, when rainbow flags were first flown at ‘Gay Freedom Day’ in San Francisco to represent diversity, with all the colours having deeper separate meanings. The flag today continues to be used to symbolise the movement. Incremental Group is proud to support Pride and has ‘embraced the rainbow’ throughout our UK offices.

Incremental is also proud to recently share the successful story of our partnership with LGBT Youth Scotland. Watch the full case study of how we helped the charity shape its operational excellence and digital revolution with the Microsoft Power Platform.
Andreena Leeanne speaker event
As part of Incremental’s Pride month celebrations, on the 14th of June, we were delighted to welcome author, poet and diversity advocate, Andreena Leeanne, to host an informative virtual session for Incrementalists. The session celebrated diversity, equality and inclusion, and talked about the extensive challenges she has faced as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. The session was hosted on Microsoft Teams to allow all Incrementalists to be involved in the conversation as a collective. In the session, Andreena shared her exposure to childhood trauma and abuse to PTSD and depression, fuelled by the isolation she felt as a Black member of the LGBTQ+ community from a working-class background, in a society that was not accepting of the LGBT community.
Andreena also spoke on how she has used these experiences and translated them into positive messages by harnessing her creativity as a form of therapy, creating poetry to express her feelings from this lived experience. Andreena collated her poetry and published the collection in the book ‘Charred’.

In the session, Incrementalists learned key terminology and the definitions in the context of Pride:
- Intersectionality: Intersectionality refers to the different ways in which inequality can be formed and the differences in the compounds, and how everyone’s intersections are shaped differs their experiences. Intersectionality is a multifaceted issue.
- Alliance: Alliance surrounds working together to promote inclusivity and supporting the Pride movement. Incremental values diversity as we believe it builds better teams and encourages diversity of thought. Learn more on why we value diversity here.
- LGBTQ+ and empowerment: Andreena expressed her empowerment as a part of the LGBTQ+ community through poetry writing in a movement to inspire others and delivered some of her poems about her sexuality and her journey within the session.
This session was both inspiring and informative, and a great opportunity for Incrementalists to build upon their current understanding of the LGBTQ+ community.
Incremental is proud to continue to support the LGBTQ+ community and take action to continuously ensure our culture welcomes diversity and inclusion. You can find out more about Incremental’s commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity and equality here.
