We are delighted to announce that this month Incrementalist Damien Bird was awarded Microsoft MVP for Business Applications.
What is a Microsoft MVP?
Microsoft Most Valuable Professional, or MVP, are technology experts who passionately share their knowledge with the community. The Microsoft MVP Award is an annual award that recognises exceptional technology community leaders worldwide who actively share expertise and contribute to the community of Microsoft users and consultants. They have deep knowledge of Microsoft products and services, while also being able to bring together diverse platforms, products and solutions, to solve real world problems. The drive to help others, is what sets MVPs apart.
Hear from Damien to learn more about this prestigious award from Microsoft and his experience as a leader in the community.
Intro to Damien
Damien worked in Public Sector for 18 years. During this time, he worked with digital leaders to understand potential opportunities and develop new apps and automations using the Power Platform.
Damien is now a Microsoft 365 Consultant at Incremental Group and enjoys engaging with new clients, understanding problems and building solutions using Microsoft Power Platform. He is an active Super User on the Microsoft Power Platform Forum and has a YouTube channel where he demonstrates various concepts and ideas, inspired by community requests and his day-to-day experience.
Damien is also looking to raise awareness of his heart condition ARVC and is happy to discuss and share his personal experiences.
Why were you chosen to be an MVP?
“You are chosen to be an MVP due to your contributions to the community. Helping out on the Microsoft forum is really where it all began for me. I quickly realised that I could solve business problems using the Power Platform technology and that by doing so, I worked on my own skills, experiences and understanding.
I have now added 400+ solutions to the Power Automate forum, run a YouTube channel with 1400+ subscribers and write a blog with 1000+ weekly visitors. I also blog on Microsoft Patterns and Practices site. I love helping people solve problems and hugely enjoy offering 1-1 support to users across the world! People with queries following on from my articles/videos/support posts, get in touch with me and I work through the problems with them through virtual demos. It’s brilliant to see the impact you can make.
I’ve stumbled into an amazing community and as a result, I’m thriving on my experience with Incremental Group as a Microsoft 365 Consultant.”
What’s next for Damien?
“2022 is an exciting year full of new opportunities. I’m part of a 90 day mentoring challenge with fellow MVP, Mark Smith. This initiative is designed to support people in building new skills and confidence.
I am delighted to announce that I will be delivering a live presentation at the Scottish Summit this summer – get your tickets here! I also hope to branch out to the Power App forum and become a dual super user this year. I will continue to support and develop ideas on my blog/YouTube.
If you’re not already involved in the Microsoft community and are thinking, should I, could I, why would I? Go on, give it a go. I never thought I would be speaking to an engineer in Brazil, a music promotor in Europe or a technician in a private hospital in Australia. All of these people had the same problem – business automation, solved via Microsoft technologies and they came to me for ideas.”
