Neil Logan, CEO, Incremental Group has been named a finalist in EY’s Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 for Scotland in the Rising Star category. This summer 23 business leaders from 21 of Scotland’s promising, pioneering and accomplished businesses, will contest for the coveted title of ‘EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 Scotland overall winner’ at a ceremony in June at Gleneagles.
Neil has been recognised for his work across the tech industry including Incremental Group and the Data Lab. Neil is founder and CEO of Incremental Group, Chairman of the Data Lab and has been a major influence in the tech industry in Scotland.
Neil Started his career as a graduate software developer and quickly progressed through the ranks to become a board member at Amor Group. When Amor decided to sell the business to Lockheed Martin in 2013 this signalled a significant change.
At just 36 years old he became CTO of IS&GSUK at Lockheed Martin where he was responsible for over 600 technologists, however this was not enough. He craved the freedom of a more agile organisation in a wider business role. Only then could he have the positive impact on the national economy and job creation that he so desired and go on to fulfil his ambition to help everyday organisations better understand and adopt digital technology to transform.
Looking around the market, this opportunity just did not exist. He could see the market potential for such an organisation and the vision of Incremental was born.
This is where the vision of Incremental was born, Neil brought two like-minded individuals, Craig Donnelly and Stuart Kerr on-board where their ability in Sales and Finance would bring the business support Neil needed. Neil and the team left Lockheed Martin and for the best part of the next year developed the vision and plan for Incremental. In the final days of 2015 Incremental Group was born and the journey began. The business officially launched in November 2016 and since then, under Neil’s leadership, it has:
- Doubled headcount
- Increased revenue by 60% year-on-year
- Increased the order book by more than 4 times.
Outside of Incremental Neil is one of the founders of the Data Lab and served as Chairman. He is also a member of the Scottish Government Technology Advisory Group (TAG), a board member of Edinburgh Business School and Vice Chairman of the ONE Digital sector board.
Celebrating its 20th anniversary in the UK, EY Entrepreneur of the Year has recognised the contribution of thousands of entrepreneurs to the UK economy over the last two decades and created an impressive network of innovators and business pioneers.
Some of Scotland’s best known business figures are former EY Entrepreneur of the Year winners, including: Sir Brian Souter, who founded transport company Stagecoach; Martin Gilbert of, then, Aberdeen Asset Management; and serial entrepreneur Alasdair Locke who was the inaugural overall Scotland winner in 1999.
This year’s finalists will be interviewed by an independent panel of judges, and the selected winners from the regions will progress to the UK finals in November, where the ‘EY Entrepreneur of the Year 2018 UK overall winner’ will be announced.
