Dynamics 365 Business Central is the replacement product for Dynamics NAV and is Microsoft’s all in one business system offering for SMEs. It combines a range of functionality across; operations, finance, project management and sales.

Dynamics 365 Business Central is a cloud based solution and the pricing model is based on a per user per month ongoing cost. For this you get a lot!  There is a wide range of capability as standard. You get all the hosting and cloud capability, access to the system on any device anywhere there is an internet connection.  You get built-in integration with Office 365, Dynamics 365 range, PowerApps, Power BI and you can also build custom applications that work seamlessly with your new system. You also get automatic updates for the system, so you will always be on the latest version and get access to any new features as they are added.

There are two pricing options available for Dynamics 365 Business Central; Essential and Premium.

Essential

Essential pricing is £52.79 per user per month.

This covers almost all of the capability available in Business Central; invoicing, purchasing, purchasing order, management, resource management, budgets, finance, fixed assets, workflows, contact management, single inventory, advanced sales, advanced inventory, distribution, warehouse management, project management.

Premium

Premium pricing is £75.40 per user per month.

Premium covers all of the capability in essential but includes Service Management and Manufacturing features.

In Service Management you can schedule service calls and set up service orders, and track repair parts and supplies.

In Manufacturing, you can define shop floor resources and their capacity, schedule operations, pull production components, and execute production operations.

Team Members

Team member pricing is £6 per user per month.

Team members are add-on licenses you can purchase for users that just need limited access to the system.  They can read and approve things, run all the reports and have access to the employee self-service.

Dynamics 365 Business Central is competitively priced for the range of functionality that you get and we think, like its predecessor NAV, it will be extremely popular. At half the price of Dynamics 365 for Finance and Operations it offers a much more accessible entry price for SMEs, and whilst it has less advanced capability (see our article comparing Business Central to Finance and Operations), for an SME this will be plenty to help you drive automation and efficiencies throughout your organisation.
